The 70th Anniversary Concert of Parkchester Chorus
Announcing, the 70th Anniversary Concert of Parkchester Chorus is on Sunday, May 16th at 3 PM in The First Presbyterian Church at Throggs Neck, 3051 East Tremont Avenue, Bronx NY. The entrance to the church is on Dudley Avenue. The Donation cost is $10 in advance and $12 at the door. You will enjoy hearing this beautiful and inspirational program and you will be supporting people you know. This concert celebrates the 70th year of Parkchester Chorus and the 2nd spring concert as the chorus of residence at First Presbyterian Church. The First Presbyterian Church at Throggs Neck is located across from Lehman High School and is convenient to public transportation. It is wheelchair accessible but please come early to be seated. Parkchester Chorus thanks everyone for making the 70th season so successful especially Lorraine Nanko, Chorus Director, Joyce Smith, chorus accompanist, Joe Smith for taking such good care of the chorus all year, Terry Bents for her charity and wonderful basket making, Jerry Paredes for his work as chorus treasurer and everyone serving on the Executive Board of Parkchester Chorus. This concert is especially dedicated to Mrs. Adelene La Rosa, longtime soprano soloist and member of Parkchester Chorus as well as member of other local choruses. We also ask that Mrs. Valarie Grahl be especially remembered.
Parkchester chorus has been expertly directed by Lorraine C. Nanko, Chairperson of the Fine Arts Department at Cardinal Hayes High School for over 20 years and this year is accompanied by talented pianist and vocal instructor, Joyce Smith. Parkchester Chorus presents a program honoring many of its best works from Bach, to Broadway and beyond. Featured guest musical artists will also be part of this very special concert.
Among the highlights of this program are works by Bach, a salute to the Broadway show and movie "The Music Man", movie classic "The Wizard of Oz" and folk group greats, Peter, Paul and Mary. Music has always brought us through life's struggles. Parkchester Chorus honors their historical repertoire with this program and hopes you will be there to share the experience.
