A Message from
our President
Welcome
to the "Parkchester Chorus.Org". Starting September 2006, I, Eva
Kindaichi-Lazaar am the President of the Parkchester Chorus. I am
succeeding Ellen Rampino, who did a great job and led our chorus
excellently. The President administers the rules and regulations stated in
our by-laws. The By-laws state the Executive Board's positions and
each position's responsibility. Currently we have President,
Vice-President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian, Assistant
Librarian and three positions at large. The By-laws state our voting rules
and membership criteria besides the musical one which is left to Ms. Nanko.
My biggest job probably, is to find the perfect restaurant each semester
to celebrate our bi-annual shows.
We
are very fortunate to have Lorraine C. Nanko's direction and with that
direction we have a wide repertoire and exciting program that you can
count on enjoying at each of our two concerts a year. Our year is
divided into two semesters, culminating with a show. Our Holiday
show is always the second Sunday in December, our May Concert the third
Sunday. We perform an outreach concert at least once a semester.
The
Parkchester Chorus is the chorus in residence at The First Lutheran Church of Throggs Neck on Baisley Avenue
in the Throggs Neck section of the
Bronx, just off I-95 South. We are easily accessible by the Hutchinson River Parkway,
I-95, The Cross Bronx Expressway, and The Bruckner Expressway. The
Parkchester Chorus heads into the 68th year of existence this
Fall, 2007. Our rehearsal day and time is Tuesday's at 7:45 P.M. - 10
P.M. There are semester dues ($30 for individuals, $45 for couples.
Also, seniors and students get a discount).
We love to have a good-time and celebrate each show with a dinner party.
One is not required to be able to read music to be a member. Ms.
Nanko is the audition master of course. It helps to have previous
experience and a love for music. Before each season we get to
try-out the majority of selections Ms. Nanko is thinking about teaching.
As the director she has the last word.
In
this section my last words are, I look forward to being the President of
the Parkchester Chorus, I am the former President of the Co-op City Chorus
and have sung in choruses since the Sixth Grade. I grew up in the Bronx, attended Ottawa University in Kansas, and graduated
Monroe Business School prior to college. I have worked as a Social Service Worker, taught
piano, taught English when I lived in Japan, and have been employed at my current company almost nineteen years. I
love singing in this chorus.
Come
try us out, you won't regret it.
